MUMBAI, 01 FEBRUARY 2017: The Indian Finance Minister’s Budget Proposals on 01 February had three major announcements – (1) enhanced focus on affordable housing, (2) increased focus on infrastructure growth and (3) income tax benefits in some income slabs. All three will create a positive scenario for affordable and low cost housing: Dr Niranjan Hiranandani.
The Indian Government’s moves to increase the growth in affordable and low cost housing — which is also an objective which the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been talking about – will result in employment growth and will augur well for the economy: Dr Niranjan Hiranandani.
The demand for affordable and low cost housing exists in the marketplace, but to be able to meet the demand, there was a need for some policy changes and budgetary proposals – which the Hon’ble Finance Minsiter Shri Arun Jaitley has proposed in his speech earlier today: Dr Niranjan Hiranandani.
Given the impetus that the Budget proposals can provide, housing and infrastructure could be the catalysts ramping up economic growth in 2017-18 and beyond: Dr Niranjan Hiranandani.
If you look at infrastructure growth at the pace which the Hon’ble Finance Minister has suggested — we are seeing 30 kms of roads per day, housing to grow at 50 per cent compounded per annum – and, in the process, we also attain the target of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ‘Housing for All by 2022’, effectively, 260 industries will have a positive impact, jobs will grow. I look forward to this happening: Dr Niranjan Hiranandani.
