NAREDCO Maharashtra organizes seminar on Revised Draft DP & Regulations 2034

MUMBAI, 13 JULY 2016: The National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) Maharashtra, organized a Knowledge Seminar in Association with Practicing Engineers, Architects, Town Planners Association (PEATA) India, on the recent Draft Development Plan (DP) & Development Control Regulations (DCR) 2034 published by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) on 7th July 2016 in Mumbai.

The Seminar was specifically organized during the suggestion /objection period to deliberate on the details and various aspects of the revised Draft DP and DCR 2034, its implementation challenges and possible implications, said Niranjan Hiranandani, Founder and First President, NAREDCO Maharashtra. “The Seminar was supported by the DP Department from the MCGM and also saw PEATA India Representations, stake holders from Real Estate and Government Representatives from various departments,” he added.

The Seminar witnessed an in depth analysis of the recent revisions made by MCGM in the Draft DC Regulations. It also saw deliberations between MCGM officials and PEATA as also NAREDCO members on some of the important topics relating to the revised Draft DP and DCR 2034. 

Ajoy Mehta, Commissioner, MCGM was congratulated by the Founder and First President, NAREDCO Maharashtra on his efforts in adding and conceptualizing 300 acres of area through reclamation of land to create an open space  in South Mumbai. Niranjan Hiranandani appealed to the Municipal Commissioner to consider the option of reducing taxes collected by the corporation, which in case of affordable housing, would help the state achieve its ‘Affordable Housing’ target.

Mumbai is moving to be the commercial capital of South East Asia,” said Ajoy Mehta, Commissioner, MCGM, “given that innovation was allowing the service industry to grow exponentially in the Metropolis”. Following the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, the Municipal Commissioner suggested joint development of real estate in Mumbai by government agencies and private developers, terming it as ‘an option that could be considered’.

Niranjan Hiranandani expressed satisfaction and congratulated Ajoy Mehta and his team on bringing out the revised DCR in a planned and transparent manner.
