‘Hiranandani Powai Run promotes healthy lifestyles’: Niranjan Hiranandani

NLH for HPRMUMBAI, JANUARY 05 JANUARY, 2015: Billed as the first healthy-lifestyles event in the New Year, the Hiranandani Powai Run was a successful event on a Sunday when a segment of Mumbai’s residents did their bit for a healthy lifestyle. The event, which has become qi major fixture in Mumbai’s sports calendar, got off to a smooth start early morning of 03 January 2016. The fourth such edition of the event, it offered participants three options: (1) the Half Marathon for Serious Runners; (2) the 10 km run for the Health-Conscious who wanted to challenge themselves, and (3) a 4 km section dedicated to the walk and run for fun and charity. Effectively, between the three segments, it offered something for almost everyone who was health conscious and wanted to pound the streets surrounding Hiranandani Gardens, Powai and its peripheral areas. The minimum age to participate in the Half Marathon was 18 years, while it was 12 years for the other two categories.

“Hiranandani Powai Run is an initiative to awaken residents of not just Powai but also across Mumbai about the importance of maintaining their health and lifestyle. With busy schedules, work pressure and hectic lifestyles, we see that citizens tend to neglect their health. The ‘Hiranandani Powai Run’, is a health wake-up call for residents,” said Niranjan Hiranandani, MD, Hiranandani Group. He added that Hiranandani Hospital was the Health Partner for the event.

More than just being about promoting healthy lifestyles, the event also took into account the need for increased public awareness on issues of health consciousness. Greater effort needs to be taken to get more and more Mumbai residents aware regarding the same. The message that went out through the event was that everyone can – and should – take a step towards healthy living, he added.

“I was very happy to see the enthusiasm on part of the runners this year. I wish all participants the very best, not just for such events, but for their efforts towards a healthy lifestyle, something we promote at Hiranandani Gardens, Powai. It is not just about competition, rather it is a race to your better health – and this was a race run well,” concluded Niranjan Hiranandani.
